Help students launch their careers. A first job can change a young person's future. Step Up connects Minneapolis youth ages 14–21 with paid internships where they gain real-world experience, develop professional skills, build networks, and explore careers. In addition to helping to strengthen the region's future workforce by investing in the next generation of talent, as a Step Up employer, you will help young people:

Share your experience and inspire a student. Sometimes one conversation can change how a student sees their future. Through career exploration events, volunteers share their experiences, answer questions, and help students understand the many pathways available after high school. Ways to get involved include:

• Career Fairs: Introduce students to careers, industries, and opportunities in your field.
• Career Speakers: Share your career journey through a classroom presentation or panel discussion.
• Mock Interviews: Help students practice interviewing skills and provide feedback as they prepare for internships and jobs.
• Professional Skills Workshops: Teach practical skills like résumé writing, networking, and workplace communication.
• Networking Events: Connect with students and help them build professional relationships.
• Worksite Tours: Invite students into your workplace and show them what a career in your field looks like.
