Yakasah (he/him) is as an experienced community builder with a strong commitment to working cross-functionally to expand youth access to postsecondary education and career opportunities. He has worked in community engagement and youth program management with All Parks Alliance for Change, Project for Pride in Living, the McVay Youth Program and the YMCA of the Greater Twin Cities.
Yakasah also serves as a council member for the City of Falcon Heights and is in the final stages of earning his doctoral degree in political science at the University of Minnesota Twin-Cities. He earned his bachelor’s degree in political science and history (double major), and his master’s in political science from the University of Minnesota Twin-Cities.
He enjoys taking on challenges and leading teams to work toward a common goal. In his free time, Yakasah enjoys hanging out with his son Esra, taking walks around the lake, listening to music and generally lounging.
