Achieve president and CEO Danielle Grant has been appointed to serve on the United States Department of Education’s Perkins V. Independent Advisory Panel, which provides guidance to the U.S. Secretary of Education on plans for national activities investments, research projects and evaluations related to the development of career and technical skills for students in secondary and postsecondary education.

The advisory panel is required by the Perkins V Act, also known as the Strengthening Career and Technical Education for the 21st Century (Perkins V) Act, which is the fourth reauthorization of the 1984 Carl D. Perkins Vocational and Technical Education Act. This federal law aims to prepare students for high-skill, high-wage or high-demand occupations in current or emerging professions. Perkins V. has provided $1.2 billion in federal support for career and technical education programs in all 50 States, including support for integrated career pathways programs.

The advisory panel consists of individuals like Danielle who bring a wide variety of perspectives and professional interests. Some are steeped in various aspects of career and technical education, while others bring expertise in research and evaluation or focus on the relationship between CTE and other key education policies at the secondary and postsecondary levels. Learn more about Perkins V.
