Career and College Readiness Coordinator, Edison High School
Katie Lorenz-Walraven

Katie (she/her) has over 14 years of experience with direct youth support in a variety of academic capacities, including eight years dedicated to the support of adjudicated youth as a juvenile justice transition coordinator. Katie’s career path started in broadcast media as a news reporter and anchor at an AM new talk radio station in Albany, New York, followed by a few years in Massachusetts with National College Advising Corps.

She later found her way to Minnesota, where she worked as an after-school tutor and supported youth in correctional programs. She believes in meeting students where they are, listening to their stories of how they arrived at a particular point in their lives and then helping them write or re-write their beliefs about their own abilities.

Katie holds a bachelor's degree in English / communications from Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts. When she's not working, she loves being outside exploring with her wife and dogs.
