Welcome to a brand new school year!

Achieve career and college readiness staff at a picnic

Minneapolis and Saint Paul students have returned to school this week, and our career and college readiness coordinators are there to greet them! Our team in 28 Minneapolis Public Schools and Saint Paul Public Schools are excited to support all of our students in discovering and creating their own unique plans for life after high school and connecting with the personal support, resources and skills they need to get there.

Nora Guerin, our long-time Edison High School career and college senior coordinator, is now in her 14th year at Achieve. “These past years in education have challenged our capacity to be flexible and go with the flow," she says. "This year we will continue to navigate new technologies for our work with students, but at our very core, we are a team that builds and strengthens relationships. While this year will look new and different to everyone – including our students, staff and parents – I am optimistic and excited that we are moving closer to a more equitable education system for everyone.”

When Nora and her co-coordinator Katie Lorenz-Walraven greeted returning students this week at the Edison Career & College Center, they asked what this new school year means to them. Here are just a few of the answers they heard: “New friendships and meeting new teachers.” “I’m not going to feel depressed anymore.” “BOOKS.  And “I get more freedom at school!”

Our best wishes to all of our amazing students and staff for a happy and successful new school year!
